Specialty Elastomers
In addition to our standard materials, we also offer a number of specialty elastomers. Since these elastomers have highly specialized design requirements, please contact us for a complete explanation.
Our specialty elastomers include:
POLYACRYLATE RUBBER
- Used for hot oil exposure, particularly oils containing sulphur bearing chemicals and additives (i.e hypoid gear lubricants)
- Durometer range of 60-90
- Not generally used where steam, abrasion or insulation is important
- Excellent ozone & weather age ratings. Useful range is from -20 to 300 degrees F
CARBOXYL MODIFIED NITRILES
- Combines oil and abrasion resistance
- Same temperature range & chemical resistance as Nitriles
HALOGENATED BUTYLS
- Non-oil resistant synthetic
- Physical characteristics similar to Butyl
- Can be blended with other polymers
- Intermittent temperature range is from -40 to 300+ degrees F
NBR PVC BLENDS
- Same general characteristics as Nitrile
- Offers excellent ozone & weather aging
EPICHLOROHYDRIN (Hydrin)
- Supplements the Nitrile group
- Excellent resistance to ozone, oils and fuels over temperature range from -60 to 300+ degrees F
HYDROGENATED NITRILE (Zetpol, Therban)
- Highly saturated, oil resistant elastomer
- Superior chemical, heat and ozone resistance over standard Nitriles
- Temperature range from -40 to 350+ degrees F
- Can be blended with other elastomers
ETHYLENE ACRYLIC (VAMAC)
- Considered “medium performance” elastomers
- Useful temperature range from -30 to 350 degrees F
- Very good resistance to weathering, ozone and air aging
- Sufficient resistance to petroleum oils and automatic transmission fluids
